Moisturizing Lotion Bars

My Favorite Homemade Lotion Bar Recipe 🌿

If you love simple, natural skincare, lotion bars are a wonderful DIY project. They’re solid at room temperature, melt gently on contact with your skin, and are perfect for moisturizing hands, elbows, feet, and other dry areas. Best of all, they’re made with just three nourishing ingredients.

Why I Love Lotion Bars

  • No plastic bottles

  • Long-lasting and travel-friendly

  • Made with ingredients you can recognize and trust

  • Great for dry or sensitive skin

Ingredients

You only need equal parts of each ingredient:

  • 1 cup coconut oil

  • 1 cup shea butter

  • 1 cup beeswax

  • Essentials oils

That’s it, simple and effective!

How to Make Lotion Bars

  1. Add coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax
Place all ingredients in a heat-safe bowl or double boiler and gently melt it over low heat.. Stir until everything is fully melted and combined.

Once cooled a bit, add in your essential oils of choice (my personal favorites are vanilla or lavender)

  1. Pour into molds
Carefully pour the mixture into silicone molds, muffin tins, or any heat-safe mold you like.

  2. Let them cool
Allow the lotion bars to cool and harden completely at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

  3. Remove and store

Once solid, pop them out of the molds and store them in a tin or jar.

To use, simply rub the bar between your hands or directly onto your skin—the warmth will melt just the right amount.

Benefits of Each Ingredient

Coconut Oil đŸ„„

Coconut oil is deeply moisturizing and helps soften dry skin. It contains natural fatty acids that support the skin’s moisture barrier and leave skin feeling smooth and nourished.

Shea Butter 🌰

Shea butter is rich in vitamins A and E and is known for its soothing and conditioning properties. It helps lock in moisture and is especially helpful for dry or rough areas like hands, heels, and elbows.

Beeswax 🐝

Beeswax helps create the solid bar shape and forms a light protective layer on the skin. This barrier helps seal in moisture without clogging pores, making skin feel protected and hydrated.

Final Thoughts

These homemade lotion bars are a great way to care for your skin using simple, natural ingredients. They also make lovely gifts and can be customized with molds or (optionally) a few drops of skin-safe essential oils.

If you’re looking for an easy, nourishing skincare recipe, this is a perfect place to start! 💛
